HCFA Employee Spotlight

Meet Kim!

With 13 years of service at HCFA, Kim is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Born and raised in Bonita, she has a special connection to the community she serves, with much of her family and many lifelong friends still living in the area. For Kim, the most rewarding part of being a dispatcher is staying calm during a real emergency, gathering the information needed, and sending help when someone is having their worst day. She also values the supportive coworkers and strong relationships she has built with the agencies in her zone.

Throughout her career, Kim has advanced through several roles, including Move Up Supervisor, Certified Training Officer, Peer Support, and Senior Dispatcher. Her accomplishments include being named Hero of the Year by the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce in October 2023, receiving APCO Special Recognition for her work during the January 2024 rainstorms, and earning the Cal NENA 911 for Kids Award in March 2020.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys beach walks, watching sports, traveling, playing pickleball, finding new restaurants, enjoying ice cream, and spending time with friends and family. When it’s time to relax, she prefers some peace and quiet, usually in the form of a massage or pedicure. One fun fact about Kim is that her and her partner, Joe, are traveling across the United States one state at a time and have visited 28 states together so far.
