HCFA Staff Attend Annual CALAPCO Conference

The 2025 Cal APCO State Training Conference & Exposition took place from September 30 through October 2, 2025, at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California. Our Executive Director, Operations Manager, one Supervisor and one dispatcher were in attendance as this years conference.

Over the course of three days, the event brought together emergency communications professionals and public-safety practitioners for learning, networking and advancement. Attendees engaged in more than 60 professional-development sessions covering topics such as cybersecurity, wellness, radio & wireless technology, emergency preparedness, supervision and management. The exhibit hall featured over 100 vendor booths highlighting the latest public-safety communications products and services.

During the conference, Supervisor Shelby O. gave a presentation on her journey from dispatcher to supervisor and Operations Manager Kristan J. sat on a panel with other Operation Managers from other 911 centers from around the state.

Beyond the formal sessions, the event offered opportunities for informal dialogue, vendor interaction and community building. The “Night on the Rails” block-party event, held at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, provided a fun, relaxed atmosphere for attendees to connect and celebrate their shared mission.

Participants left the conference equipped with new tools, renewed enthusiasm and stronger professional networks. From exploring emerging technologies like AI in public-safety communications to diving into dispatcher retention strategies and radio-site design in wildfire-prone regions, the breadth of sessions delivered measurable value across agencies and disciplines.
